Ten things
that are almost as good as sex:
1. A Cadbury's flake stuck in a vanilla cone (soft English ice cream).
2. The scent of rain when it first falls on dry ground
3. Favorite words: island, farthingale, celestial, wondrous, celandine, fathom, jewel, darkness, velvet, lustre, piglet, ragged, pagoda, marmoset, sandalwood, counterpoint, cantilever, sultry, orange, wilderness
4. That wonderful feeling of anticipation you get when you open a book for the first time by a favorite writer
5. Meeting an old friend after years apart and finding that you pick up where you left off with no awkwardness
6. Eating a mango
7. Werner Herzog's production of Tannhauser
8. Ingmar Bergman's movie of The Magic Flute
9. Starting a new book and knowing anything can happen, but you're not yet sure what
10. Writing the last page of a book and realizing you're going to miss your characters
What are yours?

Ingmar Bergman's movie of The Magic Flute
That's one of my favorite films ever. I love that the sets are based on the originals used in Mozart's time. And the trial by fire scene works better on film than on stage.
That ice cream looks so wonderful...
I'm with you all the way through to 5-especially the Cadbury's flake (a 99 as we call it in the UK)
I like my opera lighter-more Mozart please :)
I would add that amazing smell a newborn baby has when you nuzzle their skin
what a jane of a post. Off to let my inner jane do with it what she will. Back later...
no, wait, here's one after all:
Solving a plot problem in chapter 17 with something you planted in chapter 3 for no reason you could fathom at the time, except that it seemed kind of sexy. Much like (I should imagine) throwing a double play.
Back later I hope with more...
Here's another from me:
When we put our son on the airplane for college years ago, he bade us good-bye by saying, "well, thanks for everything." And meant it.
hmm, I don't know about the double play, Pam. Maybe a "perfect game" instead?
Flakes are my absolute favorite, although I have to confess to preferring the Aussie made ones to the UK ones, even though they're by the same company!
I like my opera more angst-ridden, like Puccini's La Boheme.
I shall have to think of what mine are...
Lovely post, Jane. And ummm, I do love those Cadbury's flakes in icecream. Also brings back memories of my teenage years.
Right now, I'm thinking my list would include a full night's sleep.
And possibly rereading your WIP and actually liking or possibly, even loving, it.
Along with the euphoria of sending it in on time. Though that maybe leads to sex...
